A key source of up-to-date technical information for the architecture and construction industries.  Information includes building regulations, advice notes, British Standards, government reports as well as journal articles, e.g. from the Architects’ Journal and books such as the Metric Handbook.

Detail Inspiration is an image and reference database with more than 3000 projects from the last 30 years of DETAIL Magazine (UK and German editions and Detail Green). Each project is accompanied by DETAIL project documents, which can be downloaded as PDFs. This presentation explains a little more about the resource:

Access building product information online. This database provides access to resources such as catalogues and technical summaries.

Product and supplier information for building and civil engineering. Can also be searched via the Construction Information Service.

A database of more than a million images related to visual arts and culture. You can create, save and share groups of images and make presentations too.

• 

Watch UK TV programmes from 2007 onwards, including many films and useful documentaries.

• 

Culture Grid provides access to UK arts, culture and heritage collections. You can also access European collections through Europeana. Results draw on image, audio and video artefacts.

• 

Online image collections from the RIBA and, therefore, focus on architecture and interior design.  Images are watermarked, but they are of good quality and can be used for educational purposes.
