Find journal and magazine articles. These include up-to-date publications. To see if the library has a specific electronic journal or to browse by subject, take the Ejournals tab on the library homepage. Print journals can be searched from the Catalogue link.

Use this resource to search for journal articles, e-books and images.  All visual arts subjects are included.  Links to the full text are provided, where available.

Geobase not in Discovery 

GeoBase is a multidisciplinary database of bibliographic information and abstracts that indexes journal literature across the earth sciences including geology, human and physical geography, environmental sciences, oceanography and geomechanics from 1980-present. GreenFILE covers research information on all aspects of human impact to the environment. Topics covered include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.

An academic journal archive containing thousands of articles on a wide range of subjects.

• 

Collections of articles from a variety of humanities and social sciences.

• 

A collection of predominantly full text articles, published by Elsevier.

Includes resources you may use in practice.

Barbour not in Discovery 

Barbour is a health and safety information service providing information sourced from over 900 providers. Information within it includes legislation, technical guides and best practice along with director level briefings and employee training guides. The legislation diary identifies all known upcoming changes in legislation relating to different health and safety topics.

Note that the resource only allows one user at a time, however, if you would like a personal login which allows you to save searches and set up alerts please see further information on the off campus password page.

Large international collection of contemporary buildings, comprising 5000 high quality architectural drawings 2000 photos and background information.

Digimap is a collection of EDINA services that deliver maps and map data of Great Britain. We have access to Digimap, Historic Digimap and Geology Digimap. A video guide is also available for this resource: https://www.youtube.com/user/EDINADigimap

Nexis not in Discovery 

Full text of regional and national UK and international newspapers from the 1980s onwards. Useful for reviews and public opinions.

British Library Newspapers not in Discovery 

Search and read a wide range of national and regional newspapers from 1741-1950.

• 

Search for stories in this popular tabloid or use the browse feature to flick through the paper on particular days. Use Nexis if you want to go beyond 2004.

• 

Access stories and photos from The Guardian (1821-2003) and The Observer (1791-2003)

UKPressonline not in Discovery 

Full articles, including images, from the Daily Express (1900-) and the Daily Mirror (1903-).

Aerial Digimap not in Discovery 

Detailed aerial imagery.

A database of more than 2 million images related to visual arts and culture. 

• 

Culture Grid provides access to UK arts, culture and heritage collections. You can also access European collections through Europeana. Results draw on image, audio and video artefacts.

• 

Detail Inspiration is an image and reference database with more than 3000 projects from the last 30 years of DETAIL Magazine (UK and German editions and Detail Green). Each project is accompanied by DETAIL project documents, which can be downloaded as PDFs. This presentation explains a little more about the resource:

A collection of British map data services, including Digimap - modern Ordnance Survey maps and map data, including the definitive OS MasterMap; Historic Digimap - 19th & 20th Century large/medium scale OS maps; Geology Digimap - maps and map data from the British Geological Survey.

Search, view, and download thousands of video, image and audio resources from many different collections covering news, documentaries, popular culture and much more.

Online image collections from the RIBA and, therefore, focus on architecture and interior design.  Images are watermarked, but they are of good quality and can be used for educational purposes.

This fantastic resource has captured UK terrestrial TV and radio programmes from 2007 onwards for anyone in UK universities to watch for free. You can create playlists and clips too.

A unique online resource which offers a window on Britain's changing political, economic and social landscape in the age of film and television.
