Economics - Finding Articles

Our Discovery Service will provide you with many articles you need. But sometimes you, perhaps on a lecturer’s advice, may prefer to look at a specific resource such a named database, single publisher site or even a particular journal title. Consider using one or more  news services to keep you up to date with the business world.

These are designed to bring together published research (articles, conference papers, possibly books) across defined areas. You can then use their sophisticated search options to find articles written on specific subjects/topics.

Use this database to find articles about the wider aspects of economics and business e.g. banking, finance and international trade, note the inclusion of country overviews, market reports and company swot analysis. Unlike EconLit this database includes trade and professional journals as well as academic peer reviewed journals so do take care to assess each publication you may find.

Will help you find articles, book chapters, working papers and dissertations in Economics. In many cases (but not all) there are links to full text.

Has a large collection of economics journals – good for older classic articles, but you will need to search other databases or Google Scholar to find the most recent years

• 

This is a collaborative attempt to bring together bibliographic records of economic research and working papers from over 77 countries. Very useful for researchers who, in addition to using the database, might like to subscribe to the New Economic Papers e-mail service or read the EconAcademics blog

In spite of its name, this database has thousands of articles on economic topics and some full-text handbooks too.

Published by the Royal Economic Society find peer reviewed articles covering all fields of economics and econometrics from academic, government and business economists.

Find papers on all aspects of model building in the field of economics including computable general equilibrium models, real business cycle models, environmental models, and macroeconomic models.

• 

Useful for researchers to keep abreast of new results, models and methods in all fields of economic research this journal offers "concise communications, which are a vehicle to quickly communicate important pieces of new research".

• 

Find theoretical and empirical articles exploring in particular how human behaviour impacts on economic decision, organization and behavior and economic change in all its aspects.

• 

Discover theoretical and applied research in economics and finance in areas such as corporate finance, monetary and fiscal theory and policy, financial institutions and markets, industrial organization and labour.

• 

This Elsevier journal offers theoretical and empirical research in all areas of international economics including trade patterns, commercial policy; international institutions; exchange rates; open economy macroeconomics; international finance; international factor mobility.

Journal of Monetary Economics  (in Library only) 

Find research in monetary economics; monetary analysis, the working a structure of financial institutions, the role of institutional arrangements, changes in banking structure, and welfare aspects of structural policies.

The Economist not in Discovery 

Click through to Publishers site for full-text. Leading weekly magazine covering global political, economic and business news. Includes archive back to 1997. On Campus use only (or use VPN or Web Proxy when away from the University

• 

Find every issue of The Economist from 1843 to 2011. Read about financial crises as they happened. Archive can be searched by subject or browsed by date.

• 

Access todays FT and the archive back to 2004. Find up to date business and commercial news, global financial markets, company and industrial sector information. Explore data on companies. markets and investments including charts and research tools.

Nexis not in Discovery 

Full text articles from many news sources and trade journals both UK and international. Archives sometimes stretching back to the late 1990s.
