2000 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
-
The World Conservation Union (formerly the International Union for the Conservation of Nature), through its Species Survival Commission assesses the conservation status of species, subspecies, varieties and even sub-populations on a global scale, in order to highlight taxa threatened with extinction and therefore to promote their conservation. Its Red Data Book remains the most objective, scientifically-based information on the current status of globally-threatened biodiversity.

Biodiversity hotspots
-
Conservation International focuses its efforts on 25 biologically rich areas around the world under significant threat of destruction. The remaining natural habitat in these biodiversity hotspots amounts to just 1.4 percent of the land surface of the planet, yet supports nearly 60 percent of the world's plant, bird, mammal, reptile, and amphibian species.

FinanceWise : Special report on energy
-
This report (really a resource collection) is produced by FinanceWise, a specialist search engine for finance Web sites, run by the Risk Waters Group. They have gathered together online information on energy, power and weather risk into one site. The site offers a collection of annotated Web links, discussion groups, cook lists and conference information.

Plymouth Marine Laboratory
-
The Plymouth Marine Laboratory [PML] undertakes fundamental and strategic research to underpin the marine requirements of the United Kingdom. PML executes its mission through key partnerships and collaborations with organisations throughout the world. The laboratory offers unique access to experts, and centres of excellence, across the disciplines of marine science and technology; delivering state-of-the-art research and forecasting in the marine environment. PML is at the forefront of developing new technology to monitor the marine environment at a time of change. The ultimate goal is to provide methods for predicting change and its feedback and effect on our marine environment.

University of Minnesota Biocatalysis / Biodegradation Database [UM-BBD]
-
The University of Minnesota Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database contains information on microbial biocatalytic reactions and biodegradation pathways for primarily xenobiotic, chemical compounds. The goal of UM-BBD is to provide information on those microbial enzyme-catalyzed reactions that are important for biotechnology. The reactions covered are studied for a basic understanding of nature, biocatalysis leading to specialty chemical manufacture, and biodegradation of environmental pollutants. Individual reactions and metabolic pathways are presented with information on the starting and intermediate chemical compounds, the organisms that transform the compounds, the enzymes, and the genes.
